Airport Taxi Zurich Becomes the Largest Premium Taxi Fleet

Airport Taxi Zurich expands its services with 30 Mercedes Benz V-Class vehicles becoming the largest premium taxi fleet in the canton of Zurich.

Starting from April 1st, seven out of the 30 V-class vehicles have already been put into service, replacing the former large-capacity vehicles which were booked approximately 100,000 times last year. This constitutes around 30% of all taxi rides at Zurich Airport.

Since commencing operations in 2020, the operator of the official taxi stands at Zurich Airport has been pioneering new paths in the taxi industry: Airport Taxi Zurich is the first Swiss taxi fleet to operate predominantly with hybrid and hydrogen taxis. With the addition of 30 new Mercedes Benz V-class vehicles, it now also becomes the largest provider of premium taxis in Zurich. Thus, it meets the demand for the utmost comfort. Since April 1st, seven of the 30 V-class vehicles have already been put into service and by the end of October, the remaining large-capacity vehicles will also be replaced with the new premium offer.

Enhancing the Taxi Offering at Zurich Airport

The new Mercedes Benz V-Class vehicles, like the former large-capacity vehicles, are equipped with seven passenger seats. The large limousine impresses with its ergonomic interior, generous space, and high-end interior.

The demand for these rides is high: Airport Taxi Zurich conducts 375,000 rides per year, with just under 30% of them being large-capacity vehicles. «With the new vehicles, we can further enhance our offering at Zurich Airport and expand our service portfolio with premium rides», says Jesse Gerner, CEO of Airport Taxi Zurich.

Half-Price Premium Rides to the Airport

Airport Taxi Zurich's services can be booked via their app or website, where customers can order taxi rides at a fixed price. The app allows drivers to pick up passengers on their way back to the stand, offering these so-called "Lucky Rides" at half the usual fare to the airport. This approach results in fewer environmentally unfriendly empty runs - including with the premium vehicles.

About Airport Taxi Zurich: Airport Taxi Zurich was established in 2019 from ASA Taxi AG, which operated airport taxis for nearly 40 years. Since January 2020, Airport Taxi Zurich has been the official taxi operator and partner of Zurich Airport. Airport Taxi Zurich focuses on environmentally friendly operations. The vehicle fleet of more than 110 taxis mainly consists of hybrid and hydrogen cars.
